Im Rahmen des RED LOTUS Film Festivals Vienna wird am 24. April 2025 im Wiener Stadtkino um 21:00 Uhr der philippinische Festivalsbeitrag AN ERRAND zum ersten Mal in Österreich gezeigt. Dieser Film war im Rahmen des Internationalen Filmfestivals Rotterdam im Januar erstmals zu sehen.

Adapted from Filipino writer Angelo Lacuesta’s short story, An Errand follows a day in the life of Moroy, a chauffeur working for a an unnamed, hot-tempered boss known only as Sir. Moroy was sent to a ludicrous mission very early in the morning – traveling from Baguio to Manila and back, just to retrieve the shirt Givenchy T-shirt emblazoned with the Mona Lisa gifted by Sir’s mistress Brenda.
The seemingly-short film of 83 minutes turns in to an extremely long night for Moroy. What begins as a trivial task spirals into an existential odyssey, peeling back layers of his psyche as well. As he navigates the absurdity of his errand, the film weaves in a parallel narrative: an urban legend recounted in the drivers’ lounge about Rex, a politician’s enigmatic bodyguard. Through surreal detours and introspective encounters, An Errand blurs memory, reality, and fantasy, transforming a simple premise into a meditation on class, identity, and the quiet desperation of those at the margins. The seamless fusion of the mundane and the metaphysical—where physical journeys mirror internal reckonings—makes An Errand an impressive and unique debut feature.
