Steve de Leon was cited in 1988 as one of the Ten Outstanding Fashion Designers of the City of Manila. He was the country's official representative to the 1989 Yokohama Exposition in Japan. Steve received the Maria Clara Award for Best in Filipiniana as well as the Designer of the Year Award, given by the Manila Fashion Designers Awards Foundation in 1990.
He showcased a 150-piece couture collection in Manila Hotel (1989) and mounted a major exhibit of clothes called The Mysteries of the Virgin Mary at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila (1990). Since then he has turned to painting and collage.

Salvador Bernal is an active costume and stage designer for dance, opera and drama and is a professor at the Ateneo de Manila University. He is well known for his sets and period costumes for the productions of Ballet Philippines and Tanghalang Pilipino Theater. Years of research on the Philippine saya resulted in a book called Traje de Mestiza. A companion volume on Filipino male dress is forthcoming. Bernal also dresses pop stars like Kuh Ledesma, Sharon Cuneta, Cynthia Patag and Nora Aunor.
